Materials
In my business Bodhran Babe Creations, my lifelong interest in Celtic lore intersects with my pleasure in making things that delight the eye.
I carefully select my materials, using silver from various indigenous economic initiatives. Each silver piece is hand crafted by local artisans.
The pearls I use are only potato pearls -- so named for their shape. They are freshwater mussel pearls, sometimes dyed brilliant colours, other times retaining their natural pastel lustre.
Swarowski crystals, genuine gemstones and Italian lampwork glass beads (Murano & Millefiori) are some of the other materials you'll find in my work.
What's in a Name?
Bodhran, pronouned "bough-ron," is the name for the Irish frame drum. I began playing this instrument several years ago and continue to participate in local Montreal sessions where traditional Irish music is played by fiddlers, tin whistlers, guitarists, and more. It's music that is fun and never fails to uplift, qualities I hope you will feel in my earrings.
